Why can't something like this happen to me?

This was a top story today:

3 Kids Find $98,000. They Get to Keep It

It's the ultimate case of finders keepers, losers weepers. Three children from Boulder County, Colo., were walking through a field last February when they stumbled upon a duffel bag stuffed with wads of cash. The kids did the right thing. They took it home to their parents, who then turned it into authorities. The Internet Broadcasting System reports that the bag had probably been in the field for some time as the bills were wet and moldy.

Many of the bills found by the children were in pretty bad condition. Click to see a photo shot by police. (Photo: Internet Broadcasting System)

Well, good news for the kids! The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, which surmised that the loot could have been drug money, has now determined it's not related to any current case so the three children get to split the money three ways and keep it. The sheriff's office presented the parents of the children with checks that totaled $98,000.

A Biblical treasure has been found in the desert, and it has all the makings of a movie: A secret desert encounter. A robber. An ancient Biblical scroll. But it's real.

"The kids are dividing it among themselves," one of the children's mothers told the Boulder Daily Camera. She spoke on condition of anonymity out of concern for her family's safety. "It is a pretty good start on college savings, so they are happy about that."

Yeah, I am going to start searching the desert!!
