Relay for Life!!!

This weekend the Watts family was part of the Relay for Life in benefit of the American Cancer Society. We had a wonderful time and the city of Enumclaw (populations 11,500) raised over $138,000. Truely amazing. For those of you who don't know how it works - here it is. At 7pm Friday June 24th, we started with a cancer survivor lap in which all the survivors walked. We then did a team lap and then started a long night with one person walking all night long until 10:30 Saturday morning. At 10:30pm, we lit paper bags which we had decorated with the names of loved ones who had passed of Cancer and we kept the light on in rememberance all night.

Here is a picture of our camper at Relay. We had some dinner and took turns with naps in it. All the kids spent the night in the trailer after watching Toy Story.

Cubs for a Cure Posted by Hello

We did this with another family of cub scout troop so our team name was Cubs for a cure. This was a picture of our sign.

We set up a campsite too along the track to cheer people on. We sold ice tea and gatorade and another gal did massages. The theme was cow town, so she called them "moosages". It was great. I sat in her chair and she did wonders in 7 minutes.

Here is a picture of a luminary bag we made for Jeremy's mom Molly. Not very clear, but if you click on it - it gets better.

Here are some pictures of the bags lit at night. It was amazing to see them all the way around the track. Some had pictures, some just messages of hope, most just names.

Change the world Posted by Hello

They had messages of encouragement all the way around the track and this one just got me. That we were there raising money ($138,000!!) and that it might pay the person needed to find the cure, or pay for the materials to find a cure in our lifetime. The Watts family or even the money from the Enumclaw relay is changing the world.

Here is us the morning after the closing ceremonies. Our lives forever changed. New friends made. Stories of other people who shared the agony we had when Molly passed. And definitely a desire to come back next year and do it all again.

Six Flags !!

Today was Jeremy Jr's last day of school and we scored some $9.41 tickets to Wild Waves and Enchanted Village. The weather wasn't great, but we were going rain or shine. We got Jeremy off the bus and headed out. We went to the kiddie pool and let the kids play. Headed to the water slides. As we were waiting at the top, it decided to thunder and lightning. We got to the bottom to find they were closing the park. So, we got free tickets to come back another day. So, now we have two days at Wild Waves for $40.96 for all 5 of us. Great deal considering one ticket is normally $29.99.

Jen's brother Matt is a 2005 grad!! He is headed to WSU this fall which will only fuel our feud on whether WSU or UW is better (UW of course). Jen scrapbooked this poster for his party.

Dylan's favorite place

Dylan has found his favorite place in the house. He loves this cubby. He brings all his toys in there. It isn't very deep, so he has fun trying to get out of it. If he is in there and a commercial with music is on, he will stand up and dance in it. Too Cute!!

Jeremy had an awesome game. He had 3 hits and didn't have to use the tee. He got to play catcher. He really likes it there for some reason. The weather held and we had a nice sunny game.

Poems

Jeremy had open house tonight. Its always fun to go see what they are up to. Jeremy's classroom is moving to another school next year, so they are all packed up. We are down to 10 days of school. I know I am not ready to have Jeremy home all day yet. But, back to open house. Jeremy is a poem writer. He has just taken to it. And watercoloring. He has a whole book full of beautiful watercolor drawings. He drew me a flower for Mothers day and then watercolored it. It was great. He did such an awesome job. Jeremy says he wants to be an artist when he grows up. They were showing off their animal habitats they had to do. So creative these kids are.

Finally a baseball game

This Monday we finally had a baseball game. It rained all afternoon and stopped about 15 minutes before the game and the field didn't have huge mud puddles, so we got to play. It was great. Jeremy is in coaches pitch, so its fun to actually see them getting outs. Last year they just ran 1 base every batter. Even if they got out they got to stay on. So, its fun to them getting it. They are getting interested and stay interested. NO more playing in the dirt. We had two double plays during the game too. The kids get all excited. So, we have a game Wed, so hopefully sun!!

More Rain~Phanton of the Opera

Our garage sale was a bust today due to rain. I ended the weekend with about 30.00. So, not so bad I guess. Due to the rain, I rented Phanton of the Opera from the movie store. It was so good. You have to be into those kinds of movies, but the singing and performing was awesome. Christine sang so good. And the two men were perfectly cast. I like movies with song. Moulan Rouge is still one of my favorites. I will have to buy them both.
