Relay for Life!!!

This weekend the Watts family was part of the Relay for Life in benefit of the American Cancer Society. We had a wonderful time and the city of Enumclaw (populations 11,500) raised over $138,000. Truely amazing. For those of you who don't know how it works - here it is. At 7pm Friday June 24th, we started with a cancer survivor lap in which all the survivors walked. We then did a team lap and then started a long night with one person walking all night long until 10:30 Saturday morning. At 10:30pm, we lit paper bags which we had decorated with the names of loved ones who had passed of Cancer and we kept the light on in rememberance all night.

Here is a picture of our camper at Relay. We had some dinner and took turns with naps in it. All the kids spent the night in the trailer after watching Toy Story.

Cubs for a Cure Posted by Hello

We did this with another family of cub scout troop so our team name was Cubs for a cure. This was a picture of our sign.

We set up a campsite too along the track to cheer people on. We sold ice tea and gatorade and another gal did massages. The theme was cow town, so she called them "moosages". It was great. I sat in her chair and she did wonders in 7 minutes.

We miss you Molly!! Posted by Hello

Here is a picture of a luminary bag we made for Jeremy's mom Molly. Not very clear, but if you click on it - it gets better.

Here are some pictures of the bags lit at night. It was amazing to see them all the way around the track. Some had pictures, some just messages of hope, most just names.

Change the world Posted by Hello

They had messages of encouragement all the way around the track and this one just got me. That we were there raising money ($138,000!!) and that it might pay the person needed to find the cure, or pay for the materials to find a cure in our lifetime. The Watts family or even the money from the Enumclaw relay is changing the world.

Here is us the morning after the closing ceremonies. Our lives forever changed. New friends made. Stories of other people who shared the agony we had when Molly passed. And definitely a desire to come back next year and do it all again.
